Summer Business

So Graduation was yesterday, releasing me from the chains of servitude. Well, sort of. I agreed to do a little tutoring for the reading and writing proficiency tests during the first two weeks of July. It's $27/hour, and even at just a couple hours a day, it will pay for our trip to the Virgin Valley to go opal mining the very next week.

So far, this summer's list of things to do includes:

1 wedding

1 CSN Concert

2 weeks of tutoring

1 Opal Mining excursion

1 Family Reunion Camping Trip

Creating a Poetry Anthology for my Creative Writing class (heavy on the women poets because all of the students who have signed up for the class are women)

Creating a series of poetry workshops for my creative Writing Class

Lesson planning for my U.S. History course

Reading submissions and editing the next issue of Hobble Creek Review

Work on my full length collection (which has just been put through the wringer by a really great poet)

Explore the possibilities of expanding Hobble Creek Review to publishing chapbooks (I already have a lead on the first manuscript we would be putting out into the world if such a thing was to happen)

Go out and take some new pictures

Finish writing my own chapbook by the end of June ( I probably need 5-6 more pieces so I can choose the 18-20 strongest)

Start submitting my chapbook manuscript around (and continue to submit the individual pieces for it)

How's that for a 'to do' list? I think if I try really hard, I will be able to fit in a few naps and a meal or two.

So, if you have any ideas of things to add to my list, be certain to let me know. I mean, I really am a better writer when I am busy, so let the ideas flow. This goes for reading material, too. I already have a good idea for what women I am going to be adding to the informal anthology I am creating, but if you want to suggest anyone, I will certainly read any suggestions.

Don't be a stranger, because I will still be writing this blog several times a week whenever I am home, and as often as I can when I am not. Leave plenty of comments, too. I may only be able to access my computer and blog on a spotty schedule, but I will do my best to read and respond. I need to better at responding to people's comments anyways.

Until next time. Until then, have a great time.
